Can anyone explain to me what concept search or smart search is? How does it differ from keyword search?

Keyword search is the traditional way of searching: you enter keywords and the software matches any documents with your keywords in them.

Smart search is a general term for new search technologies that have better and more accurate results than traditional keyword search.

Concept search identifies all the documents that are related to the topic you are searching even though some of those documents may not contain specific keywords that you would have used to search for them. In this way, concept search saves a lot of time, which in turn, saves a lot of money.

Another type of smart search is "fuzzy search," which is in the category of "approximate string search." In lay terms, fuzzy search is keyword search but will help you find misspelled words.

"Approximate string search" is the name that is used for a category of techniques for finding strings that approximately match some given pattern string. It may also be known as approximate or inexact matching.
